‘Yes, I’m behind the barn. U?’

‘Can’t run, twisted my ankle.’

RU hiding?

‘Yes, but I can hear him. He’s near.’

‘How near?’

‘I can hear him breathing. I’m terrified he’ll hear me.’

‘Is what Dad gave u safe?’

‘I hid it.’

‘Where?’

‘Normal place. He mustn’t find it, it’s too important. U must get it, even if he kills me.’

‘RU near where U hid it?’

‘Yes. Why?’

‘So I won’t have far to look’.

‘What do u mean? Carrie, ur frightening me.’

‘Turn around. Good. See what I’m holding up?

‘It’s ur phone. I know the pink case.’
